Which version should you download?
Always start with the current stable (v2.4.1 at the top of this page) — it supports the widest range of Macs and macOS versions, and every fix below is already in it. Older builds exist for two reasons only: checking what changed in a past release, or reinstalling on a Mac you deliberately keep on an older macOS. If your Mac is listed on our supported Macs page, the current stable is the right download.
How to update to a newer version
- Download and install the newer OpenCore-Patcher.pkg over your current install.
- Open the app and choose Build and Install OpenCore again so your USB or internal EFI carries the new build.
- Reboot, then re-apply Post-Install Root Patches — updates do not carry your old patches forward.
Updating the app never updates macOS itself. For macOS version upgrades on a patched Mac, read the download and install guide first, and if the machine misbehaves after an update see Mac won’t boot and root patch errors.
