OpenCore Legacy Patcher 2.4.0 – Download & Changelog

OpenCore Legacy Patcher 2.4.0 is a stability and polish release on top of 2.3.0’s Sequoia rollout. It targets the rough edges users reported after upgrading to macOS Sequoia 15.1 and 15.2: GPU acceleration regressions on certain pre-2014 iMac models, Wi-Fi disconnects on Broadcom legacy chipsets, and a handful of corner-case crashes in the new automatic post-install patcher. This release also bundles a redesigned settings screen with grouped advanced options behind a clearly labeled disclosure, making the patcher friendlier to less technical users.

Asset Information

  • OpenCore-Patcher.pkg: Main installer for the OCLP app, root patcher engine, and command-line companion tools.
  • OpenCore-Patcher-Uninstaller.pkg: Removes the OCLP application and its CLI utilities. Run the in-app revert tool first if you want to remove root patches as well.
  • AutoPkg-Assets.pkg: On-demand asset bundle. The patcher pulls it automatically – manual download is only needed for offline environments.

Changelog

  • Fixed GPU acceleration regression on late-2012 and 2013 iMac models running macOS Sequoia 15.1+.
  • Resolved Wi-Fi disconnect loop on legacy Broadcom BCM94331 and BCM94360 cards under Sequoia.
  • Hardened the automatic post-install patcher against partial macOS update installs – it now waits for the system to finish sealing before re-applying patches.
  • Redesigned the Settings screen with grouped sections and an “Advanced” disclosure for power-user options.
  • Improved error messages for failed root patches – the failing patch name and target volume are now shown in plain language.
  • Fixed an issue where the EFI build step would intermittently fail on FileVault-enabled volumes.
  • Updated bundled OpenCorePkg and Lilu to the current upstream stable.
  • General accessibility improvements: keyboard navigation through the main flow, larger hit targets, and clearer focus indicators.

Compatibility Notes

2.4.0 supports the same hardware as 2.3.0 – 2008 and later Intel Macs that meet the published OCLP minimums. macOS Big Sur through Sequoia 15.2 are fully supported. If you skipped 2.3.0, you can install 2.4.0 directly; the app will detect older OCLP installs and migrate settings cleanly. Take a Time Machine snapshot before installing on a Sequoia machine that already has older root patches applied – the new automatic post-install patcher will refresh them, but a backup is always good practice for major-version transitions.
